The Moon
There was once a girl who only craved the smiles of others. She tried making jokes, yet her classmates did not smile. She tried making food, yet her family did not smile. She placed flowers in the empty vase, but her lover did not smile.
There were however those who smiled. They smiled at the girl’s pain, especially if they were the ones who inflicted it. The girl tried to tell herself their smiles made her happy, yet she could not smile herself.
“Would you like everyone to smile?” asked a pastel rabbit. Overlooking the rail on the bridge, the girl wanted nothing else. She said yes to the rabbit, and ascended towards the moon.
She became a Lunar Goddess, capable of bringing joy and smiles from her luminescent throne. The Earth was at one would finally describe as “peace”. However, the girl could not leave the moon, or her power would wane. As such, she would never see the smiles she created.
